Not Your Mother's Purple Hair

The model with the entrancing multi-colored hair, Ceci. I painted Ceci live during the Houston FaceOff of Portrait Society of America Texas. In the 3 hours we had to draw and paint, the painting was unfinished and not quite Ceci. In December 2017 I had the chance to paint her again, another life model session. And again, not quite Ceci. Back in the studio, I stared at, analyzed, and worried: what was wrong. The proportions were right, what it really needed was just more work refining shapes, colors, edges, background.
