I am young, beautiful, and energetic.
I woke up feeling the exact opposite of those three descriptive words. How was I going to make it through the morning, not to mention the whole day?
A little reverse psychology thinking walked me to the mirror and whispered "I am young, beautiful, and energetic."
Did it work? With a little laugh, I will say yes: I went to the 3 hour live painting session and had a break-through in my work. My hubby gave me a bear hug when I returned home. I created and published a complicated page on a website. The evening finished with a great fajita dinner followed by what else but fried ice cream. So my morning mantra worked. I not only made it through the day, but it was a wonderful day.
Painting sometimes happens the same way, an impasse, the painting just does not work. Shoulders slump, and "I just can't do it" fills the air. But "counteracting the effects of" prevails and calls upon the left brain to figure out how to make it work. The right brain responds with "yep, that's the answer."
It happens in golf, too. Just saying "I can make this putt" will guide that ball right into the cup. We pull off this "counteracting" effect every day, in little ways, in big ways, usually without even realizing.
Unless it's an "I don't want to," but that's one for another day.
