“Grandma, can I wear the kimono?” With yards of brilliant fabric falling around her, Chelsey struck glamour poses, and laughing, fun ones. Her serenity and poise in this one best embodied the spirit of the Japanese kimono. Yumiko, a special friend in Japan, presented this kimono, which her mother had worn, to me. I hope this painting honors that gesture. Pastel, 24x18, $500
